Araw ng Miyerkoles nag announce.si COMELEC Chairman Andres Bautista na magbibitiw siya sa pwesto sa katapusan ng December 2017.

Ang kanyang sulat ay na i post niya sa kanyang Twitter account ” it is with great sadness that I am informing you about my decision to resign as the chair of the Commission on Elections by the end of the year”

“After much prayer and discernment

i believe that this is the right time to step down given the postponement of the barangay and SK elections.”

“This was not an easy decision. Bit my family especially my children, need me now more than ever.”

Binanggit din ni Bautista sa kanyang sulat ang matagumpay na 2016 elections sa kanyang pamumuno.

Kahit ang independent at foreign observers ay nagsabi na ito na ang “most manage at most credible in our electoral history”

Pinasalamatan ni Bautista ang mga nagmamahal sa kanya na hindi siya iniwan sa kabila ng mga “hurtful baseless and malicious accusations “na ibinato sa kanya.
