Sharen Martin, a singer-songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist and worship leader based in Toronto, Canada. Amazed on the demo track of her 21 keys Casio Keyboard, she laid down lyrics and melody on top of the track giving her first ever written song at the age of 8. This passion continued until she first picked up the guitar at age of 11.
Sharen held champion titles and People’s Choice Awards in various singing competitions such as The Ontario Regional Song Fest, Home Karaoke Grand finals, Ginintuang Tinig by Vehnee Saturno and many other local contests. She also opened for some prominent Filipino artists such Mike Hanopol, Nonoy Zuniga (Also did Backing Vocals), Haji and Rachel Alejandro, Rey Vallera in 2003 and with Kitchie Nadal in 2010.
She also performed live with Canadian Artist Liam Tittcomb by singing Chantal Kreviazuk’s part in the song “Counting Headlights” (written by Liam Tittcomb and Chantal Kreviazuk).
In 2004-2012, Sharen pursued a different path where she explored heavier and raw sounds to fuse with her melodic roots. She also concentrated on performing her original songs eventually turning her to lead vocals with guitar duties to her former bands Shades of Brown, Ashra and Kaya. She has performed with these bands extensively in the Greater Toronto Area and abroad over the course of years. One of the notable performances was in 2011International Sister Cities Festival where the city of Toronto sponsored Sharen and her band Kaya to perform her materials in front of thousands of people at the Richard Daley Plaza in Chicago.
In 2014, Sharen started working on new materials for her solo project. She took a different approach on this creative journey. On top of writing the tunes and words, she has been producing her own tracks, mixing and performing key instruments for every song. Known to many as a pop rock and ballad singer, Sharen poured out her influences in electronic and dance music intertwined with her positive messages of hope, faith and empowerment. The result is a new breed of sound where one may enjoy a festive and yet soulful experience. While at works for her solo project, Sharen also produced and wrote songs for other artist who are signed with major label.
With her God given talents combined with her passion to encourage others, Sharen also directed worship team at a local church in Mississauga, Canada where she teaches vocal techniques, song arrangement and leading. She had also lead worship on Revival Night Services at Canada Christian College.
