Cariza Yamson Seguerra better known as Aiza Seguerra (born 17 September 1983) is a Filipino actress, singer-songwriter and guitarist. She traces her roots from Calauag, Quezon.
Aiza started out as a contestant in Eat Bulaga!'s Little Miss Philippines 1987 and later a child star. After a few years of acting and a string of movies under her belt, her appeal as a child star lessened. She later made a comeback with her single, Pagdating ng Panahon (When the Time Comes).
BiographyShe first appeared as a three-year-old contestant of Eat Bulaga!'s Little Miss Philippines. She subsequently became part of the show from 1987 to 1997.
She has appeared in more than 30 movies and TV shows to date. As a child star, she often got the cute roles and was selected as Vic Sotto ’s daughter in countless movies. She portrayed the role of Aiza Kabisote, daughter of Enteng Kabisote in Okey Ka Fairy Ko! from 1987 to 1997. She only appeared in six movies for Regal Films. At 14 she competed in Bong Revilla's Invitational Shootfest '98, and has won several awards in the sport.
Aiza reinvented herself in her late teens by showing her talent in music. She sings and plays the guitar. Her single Pagdating ng Panahon became a major hit in 2001 and it enabled her to start a music career.
Aiza won The Singing Bee on July 8, 2008 after Rachel Alejandro gave up her throne as defending champion due to other engagements. She defeated her co-contestant singer Bituin Escalante. Seguerra won P1,040,000 for a second time on July 10, raising her total winnings now to P 2,080,000.
Seguerra's new 10-track album features revivals of old hits - "Open Arms," "Time After Time," "Somewhere Over The Rainbow," "At Last," "Vincent," "Smooth Operator," "Home," "Journey," and "Longer." Aiza had also performed in Singapore for the Singapore Repertory Theatre presentation of the stage play "Avenue Q."
Personal lifeSeguerra is the only daughter of Mr. Decoroso "Dick" Seguerra (of Calauag, Quezon) and Mrs. Caridad "Caring" Yamson-Seguerra (of Bicol Region).
She studied in Operation Brotherhood Montessori Center and later enrolled at the College of Fine Arts and Design of the University of Santo Tomas and acquired a college degree.
On August 18, 2007, Seguerra announced that she is a lesbian. She is currently in a long-term relationship with girlfriend Chen Sarte.
